About Gold Proof Coins
Proof Gold American Eagles are the collector's versions of one of the world's most popular bullion coins. A limited number of gold proof coins are struck every year and during some years these coins have been known to sell out soon after being minted. Proof Gold Eagles are produced in each of the standard gold bullion sizes (1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz., and 1/10 oz.).
Proof American Eagles are produced using a detailed minting process employing the use of special dies. Lustrous coin blanks are manually fed into the press and are then struck multiple times to produce a highly detailed coin, which appears frosted softly on top of a mirror-like background.
