With American Gold Eagle Proof Coins, you get a 22-karat gold mint with a W etched on its surface, proof that the West Point US Mint created them. The Gold Proof Eagles are distinguished primarily through this distinctive minting process. For the creation of the coins, burnished blank coins are pressed on specialized equipment. After that step, the coin is struck several times, so that a detailed image is created that appears frosted and elevated above the reflective remainder of the coin. The image on the Gold Proof Eagle floats over the shiny finish of the background nicely because of this unique method.

Every coin is placed under careful inspection, and once they are approved, the Gold Proof Eagles enter a sturdy case of plastic, then in a satin-lined presentation case complete with a Certificate of Authenticity to verify that it's genuine.

Collectors and investors around the world favor these beautiful coins, and they're a great way to collect different valuable coins than the Double Gold Eagles, which are more usually much more expensive to acquire. The Lady Liberty and the 22-karat Saint Gaudens are both $20, and qualify as Double Eagle coins. You'll find that these coins are terrific investments for the future, due to their ability to appreciate in value regardless of the financial climate. Double Eagles are being taken up by investors now, who are also getting American Eagle proofs. If you want to invest in these wonderful coins, online auction can give you a place to find competitive prices for the Double Eagle and American Eagle proof coins.

The frosted details of the Gold Proof Eagle make it a collector's favorite, as the craftsmanship and attention to detail shows on every coin that is produced. Gold Proof Eagles have 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1 ounce denominations that you can work into your budget, no matter if you are an experienced buyer or someone who is just starting out.

Produced is limited numbers by the United States Mint, Proof American Eagles are a collectible version of the standard coins from the American Eagle Coin Program. The Mint replicated the obverse design for the American Gold Eagle coin from the original creation by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, which he used on his widely revered 1907 twenty-dollar coin. The reverse features a design by sculptor Miley Busiek, depicting an American bald eagle landing in his nest while tightly clutching an olive branch. The nest contains a female eagle along with her newly born hatchlings. This reverse also displays' the coin's gold content within along with the coin's denomination, and the phrases 'IN GOD WE TRUST' and 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'.

The coins are available in four denominations: 1-ounce, 1/2-ounce, 1/4-ounce and 1/10-ounce and are minted in 22-karat gold, which is mined exclusively in the United States.

The proof versions are subjected to a different production process than the standard coins, as they are struck on specially fabricated dies designed to imprint each coin with as much detail as possible. The Mint uses lustrous coin blanks, each one receiving multiple strikes as they are fed individually into the coin press. This unique process creates images that are frosted set atop a a smooth, mirror-like background. The United States Mint goes to great lengths to ensures that each coin is of the highest possible quality.
